Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to determine the appropriate type and concentration of biofiller that produces the best physical characteristics of biothermoplastic composite pellets of modified cassava starch/glucomannan/polylactic acid (MS/GM/PLA). This study used a Completely Randomized Design with the following treatments: control, microfibril cellulose (MFC) 2.5% and 5%, nanofibril cellulose (NFC) 2.5 and 5%, nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC) 2.5 and 5%, which were repeated 4 times. The observed variables were swelling, water vapor transfer rate (WVTR), oxygen transfer rate (O2TR), water holding capacity (WHC). The results showed that MS/GM/PLA biothermoplastic composite pellets using 5% NFC produced the best characteristics with a WVTR of 74.90 g/m²/day, O2TR of 87.23 ml/m²/day, WHC of 0.12%, swelling of 2.35%, Most physical properties comply with SNI 7818:2014.
